Introducing one of our newest family members

I am delighted to be able to introduce you to one of the newest members of our church family. I'll let her mom Jess tell you all about her. Jess shared this on Instagram last night and gave me permission to share it with you all too - love Sarah

Jess writes: 2 weeks ago today our tiny girl showed up! Hooray! After a beautiful labour and smooth delivery, however, we experienced complete shock. Our dear Fern's fingers and toes were fused together and her head was shaped rather uniquely. 11 days between Abbotsford NICU and BC Children's later, we are home with a very healthy, very normal newborn. Cognitively she is perfect. Health wise, also perfect. What she seems to have is called Apert Syndrome, a craniofacial deformity of the skull and lack of digit separation. She will be undergoing surgery at four months to separate her thumbs and will have skull surgery at 11 months to make room for brain growth. We are stepping into uncharted territory but we know we have a strong and utterly flawless little daughter who just needs some help externally. We are so excited to see her personality emerge, to get to know her and learn from her, she is loved beyond words and, despite some challenges that we will have to face with her, we know that she, like all of us, has a phenomenal future ahead of her.
Happy 2 weeks Fern!! <3
