Parable of the Talents

SUNDAY IS COMING & IT’S A WHOLE NEW THING!
This is our first Sunday in our new building.
Abbotsford Christian Elementary,
3939 Old Clayburn Rd, Abbotsford

It’s fun to be at the start of something new.
The plan for your kids this weekend is to start all together in the gym at 10am for part of the worship. Then parents will bring them to their rooms and sign them in before going back to join the rest of the worship time in the gym.
The kids will have some time in their new classrooms and also get to be together in their worship space later on in the morning.
I’m looking forward to exploring how it will all work in our new venue and hope to see lots of you there so we can start the next part of our journey together.
Oh, and don’t forget, it’s pizza Sunday so please bring cash to help us pay for that - $1 a slice.

TO READ TOGETHER
Matthew 25:14-30
God has given us special skills and talents so that we can use them to spread His love everywhere. In the story the word talent has a double meaning. First of all, talent meant money. A talent was worth more than 15 years of wages for a labourer in Jesus’ time. Secondly, talent also meant “life”. God gave us lives of love to share, not bury.

SO I’M WONDERING…
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR KIDS (AND YOURSELF)
Did you know that this story is about you? You probably know how to use what God gave you. Maybe you love to dance or sing, maybe you love to do a summersault or jump on your bike, maybe you love to write or make models… Show your family something you love to do.

TO DO TOGETHER
DO SOMETHING: What is buried in your home that you could share? Go on a buried treasure hunt around your home. (Parents: You could plant some things ahead if necessary)
Search for loose change under couch cushions that you could share with hungry families at the FoodBank. Look for seeds and stale bread you could share with the birds. Do you have shoes or clothes that you have outgrown that you could give away?

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
Place a shovel or a toy sand shovel in your living space this week to remind you of this Parable. Is there something you are hiding away because you are afraid of losing it?
