Prepare the way

SUNDAY IS COMING & SO IS CHRISTMAS!
This Sunday marks a whole month at ACS, I hope your children are starting to feel at home. It’s going pretty well I think but if you see room for it to work better please let me know - fresh eyes are always helpful.
We’ll be signing kids in at 10am this week and keeping them through the service. You are welcome to bring your kids to us part way through or after worship if you prefer, if they enjoy being in worship with you then that is great.

TO READ TOGETHER
Mark 1:1-8
Jesus is the good news to share with everyone.
People had been predicting the arrival of the Messiah for hundreds of years. The Old Testament prophets, such as Isaiah and Malachi, said that a messenger would come before the Messiah to prepare the people. In Mark’s gospel, John the Baptist arrives in Judea to announce the coming of Jesus, the Messiah, thus fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies. This is GOOD NEWS!

TO LEARN TOGETHER

I have baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. Mark 1:8

SO I’M WONDERING…
THINGS TO TALK ABOUT WITH YOUR CHILDREN
Share stories about your baptism. Were you a baby, or older? Did you choose to be baptized? Why? What does it mean to be baptized into the family of God?
Why do you think Mark started his gospel with this story, instead of with a story of Jesus’ birth?

FAMILY PRAYER
Dear God, just like John the Baptist was a messenger of Jesus, help us be messengers by spreading the good news and sharing your love with everyone we meet. Amen.
