God's promises make us happy!

SUNDAY IS COMING
We’ll be signing in children from 9:55am in the big space just past the gym entrance. If your kids are happy to they can run down to their classrooms after you have signed them in or you can walk them to their groups.

TO READ TOGETHER
There are a few passages that run together to tell the story this week, if you have a story bible this would be a good week to crack it open - they will all have the story of this promised baby.
If not, here are the texts: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Genesis 18:1-15; Genesis 21:1-7
This is the story of God renaming Abram and Sarai - find their new names in the story and think about what God was saying when He changed their names. Then there’s the story of the promised baby. God grants a seemingly impossible promise to the hopeful parents. The point this week is God’s promises make us happy.

TO LEARN TOGETHER
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!”
2 Corinthians 1:20a

TO DO TOGETHER
Find out what your names mean.
Make up a name and a meaning for that name.
Have a play date (practice hospitality).

SO I’M WONDERING…
What is a promise that was made to you and kept?
What promise have you made and kept?
How does your family show hospitality?

TO PRAY TOGETHER
Lord God, please be with us as we struggle to understand your promises, help us to hope and to feel the peace of your presence as we wait. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

WHAT IS LENT?
Lent is the 40 days leading up the celebration of Easter. It started last Wednesday (Feb 14). The idea of Lent is to help us focus on God and look forward to Easter and all that Jesus did for us.
Many people use these 40 days to fast something (give something up) because they want to focus more on Jesus. If you do the math you’ll realize that 40 days will run out before Easter and that is because Sundays are feasting days, not fasting days, fast Monday - Saturday and feast on Sunday!

Have a think about it, have a talk about it - is there some way your family might focus on Jesus in this season as we run up to Easter?
