SUNDAY IS COMING
This Sunday is Easter Day and this weekend, because it’s a very special day, we will be altogether for the whole morning - NO KIDS GROUPS OR BABES&TOTS.
TO READ TOGETHER
A lot happens this week: beautiful worship of Jesus, the Last Supper, betrayal, arrest, trial & crucifixion. It’s tempting to skip over all of this and go straight to Easter Sunday and the good news of the Resurrection but this is the story, this is what happened and this is how Jesus showed us the love of God. I’ve broken it down into sections so you could read it with your older kids and think about it part of the week as you go. With younger ones you might want to use a children’s story bible and tell the story that way. Jesus did all of this and went through all of this because of His incredible, unchanging, never ending love for us.
MONDAY: Mark 14:1-11
TUESDAY: Mark 14:12-31
WEDNESDAY: Mark 14:32-52
THURSDAY: Mark 14:53-15:15
FRIDAY: Mark 15:16-47
SATURDAY EVENING/SUNDAY MORNING: Mark 16:1-8
TO LEARN TOGETHER
As we look ahead to Sunday morning:
He isn’t here (in the tomb) He is risen from the dead!
SO I’M WONDERING…
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR KIDS (AND YOURSELF)
What’s the biggest surprise of your life? How do you think your surprise compared to Mary’s on Easter Sunday?
TO PRAY TOGETHER
Dear God, we know that life is full of surprises. We have our own plans, desires, and expectations. Make us open to receive what life brings to us. When we are afraid, like Mary, help us find joy in life’s surprises. Amen.
KEEP YOUR EARS OPEN
Next time you hear something surprising, remember how surprised Mary was by the empty tomb.
