Come Holy Spirit

SUNDAY IS COMING
This long weekend we are going to have the older children join the adults for worship and sign them in at 10:30. Babes&tots will be on as normal. If you are available to be an extra pair of hands in the either the blue or orange groups this weekend we’d appreciate the extra help. Let Sarah know if you can. Thanks!

TO READ TOGETHER
ACTS 2:1-21
Pentecost means “fiftieth day” and is celebrated 50 days after Easter. On Pentecost the Holy Spirit was given to the followers of Jesus and the Good News about Jesus was spoken to everyone, in lots of different languages. Read what happened.

TO LEARN TOGETHER
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

TO DO TOGETHER
Create reminders of the Holy Spirit’s presence in your home by making luminaries for your doorstep. You will need a brown paper lunch bag, sand, a votive candle, scissors and masking tape. Create a few cross shapes from the masking tape and stick them to the inside of the paper bag. Fill the bag with 3 inches of sand and secure a candle in the center of the bag. Parents should light the luminaries with a stick of spaghetti or long match. (If you can’t light flames, use battery-powered candles instead.)

SO I’M WONDERING…
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR KIDS (AND YOURSELF)
Do you know someone who speaks a different language than you? Do you ever have a difficult time communicating?
Do you know any words in another language? Share some with each other.
It can be difficult to communicate in a place where people don’t speak your primary language. Think about people who are new to our country and community and might have a hard time communicating. What are some ways we can help those people in their daily lives?

TO PRAY TOGETHER
Dear God, we thank you for sending the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Give us hearts to feel your presence with us every day. Amen.

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
Observe the wind this week. Take time to watch how it moves through the trees and the grass. See how it blows through your hair and clothing. Visualize the Holy Spirit blowing around you, surrounding you.
