SUNDAY IS COMING
We are running our regular plan this weekend.
Sign in for kids happens between 9:45 and 10:15 - the earlier the better though as the kids have activities set up to start at 9:45am.
If you get there after 10:15 you’ll find us all together in our worship space, sign your kids in and come and join us.
TO READ TOGETHER
In this story, all of the temptations that Jesus faces encourage him to turn away from God and think only about himself. Jesus knew God was with him, however, and he knew God would help him through these temptations.
TO LEARN TOGETHER
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2
SO I’M WONDERING
(Some things to think about together)
What do you do when someone wants you to do something you know is wrong?
How do you deal with challenges?
TO DO TOGETHER
Figure out a way to have mealtimes be a reminder that it is Lent. Perhaps you’ll use Lent’s colour (purple) and use purple napkins, serve purple grape juice, or use a purple tablecloth.
KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
Next time you are really really hungry and you see food, remember God’s word: No one can live on food alone. What else do we need?
TO PRAY TOGETHER
Thank you, God, for being with us always. Thanks for helping us through times that are especially challenging. Help us to know you are with us when we face difficulties. AMEN
WHAT IS LENT? Part 1
To talk about with your children…
The church calendar helps tell the Jesus story every year. The Season we are entering starts on Ash Wednesday which is March 6 this year. Lent lasts for forty days because that’s how long Jesus wandered in the desert, fasting, while he resisted Satan’s temptations. Lent is an opportunity, during these forty days, to be like Jesus and resist temptations and use this time to become closer to God.
