TO READ TOGETHER
Romans 15:4-13
Ultimately this passage is about welcoming, praising, rejoicing, and hoping in God. We are called to unity—to truly welcome all. Throughout Jewish history, the scriptures speak to the reconciliation and unity of all peoples—Jew and Gentile. This passage is about hospitality. The spread of the gospel relied on hospitality and welcoming people like Paul in homes. Learning how to welcome people into one’s home was an essential part of the Christian experience at this time.

TO TALK ABOUT:
Advent is about waiting for Jesus to come. In Bible times, believers waited together for Jesus to come.
What do you think people did while they waited?
What do you do when you are waiting for something?

TO PRAY TOGETHER
Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus. Help us to worship Jesus together as your family. Amen

TO DO TOGETHER
Make a long paper chain. On each strip of paper write the name of someone you know even if you know them only a little bit. As you join the pieces of the chain together to make a long paper chain remember how we are all connected to one another because Jesus brings us together.
