TO READ TOGETHER
Luke 18:1-8
Jesus tells a parable of a widow who persists in asking a judge to deliver the justice she deserves. The judge, because of the widow’s persistence, not because of his own concern for justice, eventually relents so she will leave him alone. This parable is about trusting God and being persistent in praying for God’s justice even when the injustices of the world batter us. This parable is of the “how much more” type, as in, if the unjust judge is like this, how much more will the just and righteous God listen to our prayers for justice?

TO LEARN TOGETHER
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances,
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18a

TO TALK ABOUT:
The widow in today’s story showed persistence; she worked really hard to get what she needed. What do you work really hard at?
When have you felt like giving up on something because it was too difficult?

TO PRAY TOGETHER
Dear God, thank you for always hearing our prayers. Amen.
TO DO TOGETHER

A gavel is a small mallet used by a judge to get the attention of people in a courtroom. Make edible ones by pushing a mini pretzel stick into a large marshmallow (or other edible equivalent).
