April 24: Jesus' first miracle

KIDS CHURCH
BridgeKIDS are joining with the kids from Emmanuel this Sunday.

Check in with Sarah when you arrive at church and we’ll get you signed in so we can just head upstairs together when it’s time to go.

Kids Church leaders are Sarah and Shaeya this week, and Ingrid from EMC is with the preschool/K’s :)

TO READ TOGETHER:

John 2:1-11

For parents: This story is Jesus’ first miracle. He is the guest at a wedding with his mother and other friends. The host of the wedding didn’t plan well and ran out of wine. Mary knows that Jesus could fix the problem, but he is keen to not draw too much attention too early and says it isn’t time to help. However, his mother ignores that and this is when his first miracle (that we know about) happens. Jesus does the whole thing quietly so that only his friends and the servants know what happened, as John says in v11 “Jesus showed his glory by doing this sign. And his disciples believed in him.” Perhaps the reason he helped was to help his friends believe.

GAME TO PLAY
Mary told the servants to ‘Do whatever he tells you’ and to listen to Jesus. You could talk about this as you play a game of Simon Says.

What did Jesus tell the servants to do? What do you think would have happened if they didn’t do it?

PRAYER
Jesus, you have power over things in creation. We learnt in this story that you turned water into wine. It helped your friends to believe in you. Today is earth day and something on earth that needs to be made better is (fill the blank). Show us how we can help change it from this situation to something better with your help.
Amen
