A request from a doctor at the ARH

This is from a doctor at ARH:

Hello everyone. As many of you know I am an Emergency Physician and I work in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre in the Fraser Health region. We have a large staff in emergency department, working hard on the front lines of the COVID-19 Pandemic. As part of our work, we need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) so we can stay healthy and to continue helping the public. This is unlike anything I have ever seen in my career, and we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg right now.

In the coming weeks, and despite Fraser Health's best efforts, we will need more PPE. We will need masks (surgical and N95), fluid impermeable gowns, gloves, hand sanitizer, face shields and goggles. We need these NOW and not when patient volumes are through the roof.

I have been working with local leads and the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (www.fvhcf.ca) to rally the people of Abbotsford. This is OUR hospital and many of the workers are are friends, family and neighbours. Please help us protect them. Industrial operations, dental offices, veterinary clinics, etc. may have PPE that can help so we can continue to do our job saving lives. Thank you to the local breweries, distilleries and wineries already working to make sanitizer.

Please share this post as broadly as you can. Get the word out! PPE can be donated centrally to:(https://www.safecarebc.ca/operationprotect/). Details and specifications are on the website of what is needed. Fluid proof gowns are a big need. Also, consider donating to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, as they are instrumental in getting equipment for and to us front-line workers.

Lastly, please vigorously practice social distancing. If you are sick, you must self isolate. The more we flatten the curve, the better we can help our population survive this.

Thank you for reading this. Mike.
