Lent - Palm Sunday

The Season of Lent
Lent is the time of preparation for Easter, making space for and focusing on the love of Jesus. We are going to use six different practices to help us do that in the next six weeks. Being present, Lament, Lectio Divina, Trust, Compassion & Hospitality.

Yesterday
We talked about compassion - God is Love with a capital L and has compassion on us, on our friends, on our enemies; in the practice of compassion we join in with that and see how we can be compassionate too. We made mobiles - if you didn’t join us here’s a quick breakdown on that so you can make one for your home.
Make three shapes from the three different colours of paper.
Write/draw ME on the first, a heart on the second and a ? on the third shape
Use needle and thread to make a loop through each shape
Hang the loops on a stick
Use more thread to make a hanger and hang it up
Use the mobile for this week’s challenge

GOD WITH US!
GOD HAS COMPASSION ON EVERYONE
Use your mobile every day to remember God is compassionate and ask God to bless you, someone you like (heart) and someone you are not sure about (?). As you look at each coloured shape hanging on your mobile
Say: Bless them (or me) with your love
Bless them (or me) with your healing
Bless them (or me) with your peace

Worship Dance Party
Worship isn’t fabulous on Zoom and so I’ve put together a playlist on Spotify that we’d have used if we were face to face.

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

This coming Sunday
‘God bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Mark 11:9
We are going to tell the story of Jesus riding in to Jerusalem, not as a conquering king but as a humble king. Many people made him welcome that day.

Let’s Pray
Praise God!
God bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord!
Your kingdom come and your will be done
Praise to God in heaven.
Amen

Prep for Sunday - thank you!
The envelope for this Sunday has colouring things - one is a set that can be coloured with backgrounds and people that can then be set up and used to tell the Easter story - it might be fun to get that out and start colouring it now!
The other is an invitation to take a flower - we’ll chat about what that’s all about on Sunday.

Question of the week
Ask yourself, as a sibling, as a parent, ask a friend - even ask a stranger…

What makes you unique?
