No space for hate
We are really disturbed to hear about anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protest events planned across the country tomorrow. This organization is using the well-being of children as a pretext for hate under the cover of ‘protecting the rights of parents’.
When hate is loud, love has to be louder. At the Bridge we stand firmly and proudly with the queer community in the face of the rise in anti-trans hate speech and actions.
Chilliwack Pride Society wrote this: This kind of message is incredibly harmful to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, as it attempts to remove the protections that keep our community and children safe from systemic discrimination and societal harm such as bullying. These events also attempt to silence the much needed education and information about gender identity and gender expression by spreading disinformation about SOGI and inclusive practices in public education.
What can you do?
Represent - Wear your rainbows loud and proud to show your support for inclusion and education. Send a message through waving your flags wherever you are that hate and fear will not win over love.
Update your profile picture on social media to the No Space For Hate Logo on Sept 20 (screenshot the image below)
Attend a peaceful counter protest - see bit.ly/protestlist for more info.
(there is one planned for Abbotsford, gather from 9, march at 11)
