Lent 5: Can you stay awake?

YESTERDAY IN KIDS@HOME
We talked about the mustard seed and the yeast. Maybe Jesus was telling this story so we know that small things can make a big difference or maybe He is the seed and the tree is all those who follow Him or He is the yeast and His life in those who love Him makes the whole world taste better. We can’t know for sure but those are good ideas to start with.

THE CHALLENGE FOR THIS WEEK
Make bread - there are a few ways to go about this
from scratch
from a mix
from a ready made dough you can shape and bake

LOOKING AHEAD TO APRIL 3

TO DO AT HOME

TO READ: Mark 14:32-42
Jesus prays in the garden of Gethsemane, he takes his friends with him but can they stay awake? Will they watch with him during his sad time of prayer? What does Jesus call His heaven Father?

TO REMEMBER:
Because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:6

A PRAYER
What amazing love you have shown to everyone in the world. Because of Your love we are called children of God so we can say, “Abba, Father” like Jesus taught us. Amen

TALK ABOUT IT
What name do you like to use when you talk to God?
What other names could you try using?

THE GRAND PLAN FOR SUNDAY
Sign in as a family at the playground that you can see from the parking lot. Kids will get name stickers.

BridgeKIDS will spend the whole morning outside so dress appropriately for the weather - WARM/WATERPROOF LAYERS

There will be a story, craft activity, games, and a time for snack and reflection. Can you please send your kid with a hot drink in a flask that we can have at the story spot? It’ll help add a little cozy to the morning.

REGISTER YOUR KIDS
Please message Sarah if you are planning on being there this Sunday so we can make sure we have the appropriate number of team and all the bits and pieces we need. 604 615 9406

DETAILS FOR EACH AGE GROUP

UNDER 3s
Two team members will be wearing red shirts that say, I WOULD LOVE TO HOLD YOUR BABY, and they truly would. They will be happy to have your under 3s to play with or walk around with during the gathering time. If you have a stroller with you that would be handy to use. Please make use of this team if you have littles.
They will get you if a diaper needs changing.
At the end you can find them downstairs to sign out your littles.

AGE 3 to Grade 1
This team will be wearing bright orange shirts, it’ll be hard to miss them! They will be on the playground with stickers ready to sign your kids in.
They will be with your children on the playground and outside under the covered area for story, crafts & snack.
Snacks will be provided (nut free with options for gluten free too). Please send your kid with a warm drink if they would like that or something else.
Find them outside after the gathering to pick up your children - either undercover or on the playground.

Grade 2 to Grade 5

This team will be wearing blue shirts. They will be on the playground with stickers ready to sign you in.
They will be with your children in the under covered area and on the playground. They will be doing story, crafts, snack and reflection with them.
Snacks will be provided (nut free with options for gluten free too). Please send your kid with a warm drink if they would like that or something else.
Find them outside after the gathering to pick up your children - either undercover or on the playground.

JOIN A TEAM
When we are live we need people to hang out with the children.
When we are online on zoom it is pretty much a one person job that me and occasionally Kylee or Alisa have been doing, but when we are live we need more people-power.

If you are someone who enjoys children and wants to provide spaces for them to connect with God and know how loved they are then this job is for you. The bottom line for those who serve in bridgeKIDS during any gathering in person on online is that we are connection people not content providers. Your aim is to be present with the children and develop relationships with them. We want you to be an additional loving adult working in a supporting role alongside their parents.

If you would like to join us on a live Sunday morning and hang out with the children please contact Sarah asap!
