Oct 16 Kids @ Home

LAST SUNDAY - Thanksgiving
I hope that your weekend was a good one and you got a chance to be thankful together with the people that you love. I hope you had a moment or two to rest and recharge your family batteries.

THIS WEEK - OCT 16

The passage for this week, Luke 6:43-45, falls in the middle of a few picture stories that Jesus tells. It is good to read the whole section from Luke 6:39-49 to get a fuller picture about judging others (or not doing that actually) and true obedience. The point this weekend for kids is - we are good inside.

A PRAYER
Jesus, thank you for making me the way that I am. Help me to notice the good that comes out of me because of the good inside of me. Forgive me when things come out the wrong way and remind me to always go back to what is good. Amen.

TO GET READY FOR SUNDAY
Paper & colours
Playdoh or modelling clay of some kind or something to build with, like lego would also work.

JOIN SARAH ON ZOOM THIS WEEKEND
Log in a 9:30am on Sunday and we will talk about all of this some more and make something and sing a song, and talk to Jesus about all these things.

OCTOBER 30
Kylee & Alisa are leading an all age hike, meeting in Harvest Drive, Abbotsford at 3pm, followed by a cookie decorating and hot chocolate drinking gathering at Sarah’s house (also on Harvest - which is handy!) Put it in your calendar. There will be no KIDS @ HOME that week as this is in the afternoon instead.

WHY DO KIDS ON ZOOM?
My aim with KIDS @ HOME is to give the children a space to be with each other, even if it’s virtual and to set them up with something that they could continue during the 10:30 gathering for everyone. We play games, do crafts, tell stories, and from time to time we have breakout groups for the older children too.

WHAT IF MY KID HATES ZOOM?
I’d encourage you to give it a go. If they don’t want to be on camera they could be playing. I’m happy, for example, if they want to build lego and listen. We go for 30 minutes and cram a lot of different things in so there’ll be something for most. I try and make it interactive and fun for them.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
If you want to join me as an extra adult that’s fantastic. I’d be happy to have you join us. If it’s just me though, I’ve got it! I will let you know on Saturday if there is anything it would be good to have on hand, like colours, paper, scissors etc. It’s usually things like that and if you could help your kids gather that ahead of time it will save us time in the 30 minutes.
