Dec 18 - ADVENT PEACE

LAST SUNDAY - DEC 11
We joined the grown ups and the theme of the morning was JOY.

The challenge for this week: When you come across JOY this week, don’t resist it but go with it!

THIS WEEK - DEC 18
ADVENT, WEEK 4: PEACE

TO READ: Matthew 1:18-24
The age of our kids keeps us from getting into the nitty gritty of this passage, so I’d suggest this as a way to tell the story... (It’s how I’ll tell it on Sunday)

Joseph was going to get married to Mary, Jesus’ mom. One day, Joseph learned that Mary was going to have a baby and he was pretty nervous. It felt impossible - how was he going to be a dad? That night, Joseph had a dream. In his dream, an angel told him that Mary was going to have a baby who was God’s Son, and they would name him Jesus.

I wonder if that made Joseph feel better about becoming a dad or if it made him more nervous to know his son may be pretty important? Even though Joseph maybe felt scared or nervous, God shows up (through an angel) to help Joseph figure out what he is going to do next.

TO PRAY
God, thank you for choosing ordinary people like Joseph and Mary to do pretty amazing things. Thank you that you helped them at every stage. Extraordinary God, you are always with us in our ordinary lives. Help us notice when you are near as we live in your love, with hope, joy, and peace. Amen

SOMETHING YOU COULD DO TOGETHER - MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF WOOD
Joseph was a carpenter by trade we think, so to remember Joseph’s part in the story of the birth of Jesus make something out of wood or choose something wooden to be a centre piece on your dinner table this week.

TO GET READY FOR SUNDAY
Gather something to draw on and colours to draw with and also something to build with,
it could be lego or blocks or cardboard boxes or... use what you have.

JOIN SARAH ON ZOOM THIS WEEKEND
Log in a 9:30am and we will talk about all of this some more, draw the story
and build together and talk to Jesus about these things.
