Advent JOY!

LAST SUNDAY - DEC 4
This past week were on zoom, we talked about Jesus, the One who brings hope to the world in particular to poor people, prisoners, sick people, people who are treated badly and those who need kindness. And, the fantastic idea that we get to help with that and maybe encourage those who need a bit of encouragement alongside Jesus.

THIS WEEK - DEC 11
ADVENT, WEEK 3: JOY

TO READ: Psalm 78:2-4
“I will open my mouth in a proverb; I will utter riddles from of old.
Which we have heard and known, and which our mothers and fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their daughters and sons; we will recount to generations to come the praiseworthy deeds of SHE WHO SPEAKS LIFE, and her might, and the wonderful works she has done.”
This is how it reads in the Women’s lectionary and I love the inclusivity of the language. In light of this - dig out a favourite Christmas story book. Talk about the colour of the characters in the illustrations if you need to unless you have a good one, in which case - please share!

TO PRAY

Jesus, thank you that you are real love, hope, joy and peace. May Your Love shine brightly in our lives, spreading hope, giving joy, and bringing peace to the world. Amen

SOMETHING YOU COULD DO TOGETHER
Pick up a Christmas Light Package on Sunday and go hunt some Christmas lights together with the hot chocolate and marshmallows, of course!

THIS SUNDAY MORNING -
Kids will be joining with the adults this Sunday morning to celebrate Christmas together because the theme for this week of Advent is JOY and we crusty old people need the children to help us remember what that means.

Here’s how you can get ready:

  • Buy or make some Christmas baking to share (if you are able to)
  • Dig out a Christmas sweater or pin decorations to a regular sweater so you can wear it on Sunday (if you want to)
