Feb 5, 2023 Jesus at work

LAST WEEK - JAN 29
We talked about following Jesus and the potential difficulties and distractions we might have when it comes to following him but because of how much he loves us (and the whole wide world) that it was worth it.

THIS WEEK - FEB 5

TO READ: Matthew 9:18-26
Jesus demonstrated what happens in the kingdom of God by healing people. This week has two stories of people that might have been ignored who get Jesus’ attention.

A PRAYER
Jesus, thank you that you paid attention to people that others might not see or think to be important. Help us to do the same and look out for other people to maybe help and show them love. Amen.

TO DO TOGETHER
See the challenge idea below.

AN IDEA TO THINK ABOUT
The synagogue leader went to Jesus to tell him about his daughter who had just died to ask for his help. The woman came on her own to get help.

Who do you know who is sick? Make a point of telling Jesus about them.
If it is you who is sick tell Jesus about that too.

TO GET READY FOR SUNDAY
Have a bandaid or two, paper and colours on hand for this Sunday morning on zoom.

JOIN SARAH ON ZOOM THIS WEEKEND
Log in a 9:30am and we will talk about all of this some more, sing a song or two and draw together.

A CHALLENGE
Stuffed socks
There are people who live without homes in our city. We often see a few asking for help at stoplights around town, having dry and warm feet is hard to do when you live outside. Here’s a little thing you could do:
Buy a pair of grown up socks and stuff them with snacks and maybe other things too and find someone to give the stuffed socks away to.
