LAST WEEK - FEB 26
We talked about Jesus going out into the wilderness and being tempted. We talked bout the colour green and how we find that colour in the wild. We also talked about Henri Matisse, an artist who painted how he felt rather than what he saw.
A ‘GET OUTDOORS’ IDEA
Spend some time in the wild this week - as close as your backyard, or a park, or further afield. How do you feel there? What do you notice?
AN ARTY CREATION
Make a view finder like an artist would use. from a piece of card, like a cereal box or something else.
Fold it in half
Cut out a square from the middle
When you open it up use that hole to look through
How does what you see through the hole make you feel?
Can you draw it like Matisse would?
SOME THINGS TO TALK ABOUT
Where are your favourite “wilderness” places? What are some of the most memorable adventures you’ve had there? What did it feel like? How might a journey into the wild change a person?
A PRAYER
God of the wilderness, help us to learn and grow, always trusting in you for nourishment and care. Give us the bright boldness of the ‘wild beasts’ and the courage to move in new directions. Strengthen and open and humble our hearts. Amen.
