LAST WEEK - MARCH 12
There were a few hands on experiences in church this past Sunday. It’s not too late (you’re not too far away) to do them too.
The colour for week 3 of Lent was BLACK.
BLACK LINE SELF PORTRAIT
Breaking it down to the basics of a black line drawing. Do a portrait of yourself.
Take a photo and send it to Sarah and I’ll add it to our whole church canvas that will get a big reveal at Easter..
PLANT A SUNFLOWER
Planting a seed is an act of hope. Seds are planted in the dark earth and in time they sprout and grow and fill our world with beauty, colour and, in the case of sunflowers, seed for birds.
We planted them in small cardboard edd cartons.
SOME THINGS TO TALK ABOUT
Black is the canvas of a night sky, the richness of topsoil, the play of shadows in water. You might want to ask yourself where are the blacks in your life these days? What is essential? Where is the beauty in simplicity?
A PRAYER
God of simplicity and grace, help us get back to basics: loving you and our neighbours as we love ourselves. May we keep things simple, essential, and beautiful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
THIS WEEK - MARCH 19

TO READ: JOHN 9:1-41
“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, Jesus spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man’s eyes, saying to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”).
Then he went and washed and came back able to see.
Several of the stories about Jesus focus on helping people to see, and in this one, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world.”
What does he mean, exactly? Well, light isn’t only something we see; it’s also the thing that makes it possible to see everything else. Light makes the world visible, beautiful, colorful, and delightful. And so does Jesus, “the light of the world”!
