LAST SUNDAY - SEP 11
We launched the PRAYGROUND space at the front of the group between the first row of chairs and the band/speaker. We coloured and we sang along and we listened. It was really good to have the children at the front, they asked about songs and commented to me about the talk. It was much better than being at the back or scattered around the room. They didn’t have to look at anyone’s back and could be engaged with what was going on up front. Happy days. We’ll do it again on Dec 11 which is our next all together gathering.

I like to line up the content for kids with the adults, however, this week, the passage (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) doesn’t lend itself to this very happily. Somethings are not age appropriate or helpful. So we’ll do a different story.

A PRAYER
Take a quiet moment and sit still
Say this in your heart or out loud “Jesus, I am here to meet with you.”
Then be quiet and see what you feel like, or think about or imagine.
AN IDEA TO THINK ABOUT AND MAYBE DO
How do you like to rest? What do you do? Can others join you? Talk about the ways different people in your family rest.

WHY DO KIDS ON ZOOM?
My aim with KIDS @ HOME is to give the children a space to be with each other, even if it’s virtual and to set them up with something that they could continue during the 10:30 gathering for everyone. We play games, do crafts, tell stories, and from time to time we have breakout groups for the older children too.
WHAT IF MY KID HATES ZOOM?
I’d encourage you to give it a go. If they don’t want to be on camera they could be playing. I’m happy, for example, if they want to build lego and listen. We go for 30 minutes and cram a lot of different things in so there’ll be something for most. I try and make it interactive and fun for them.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
If you want to join me as an extra adult that’s fantastic. I’d be happy to have you join us. If it’s just me though, I’ve got it! I will let you know on Saturday if there is anything it would be good to have on hand, like colours, paper, scissors etc. It’s usually things like that and if you could help your kids gather that ahead of time it will save us time in the 30 minutes.
